Mine was a refurb bought in mid-2008, so it is maybe a 2007 model? But I got the new battery for xmas 2011, I think.

Ok, I have that bookmarked. I don't think I will try anything right now, since I'm heading to bed. But I will give it a try. Thanks Tom.

If you have an Apple store nearby take the battery in, especially if it is only a year old. When I have had bad batteries, or failing batteries Apple has almost always replaced them for free at the Genuis Bar.

anyone else having trouble with their AppleTV? I did the update the other day. I can do Netflix, no problem. But it will not access the iTunes Store. Tried unplugging trick. Didn't work. Tried logging out of iTunes Store in pref's. Now, can not log back in. Just wondering if I'm the only one, or is there a problem.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I haven't had any trouble. Had to download the update twice, but no problems since then.

OK, so I unplugged it for 20ish minutes, rather than 2 or 3. And now, it's working again.

Coding and Sleeping

I got my new NAS yesterday. It appears to be about ten times faster than the current dying (though probably fixable) NAS. But I can't believe how much shit this thing can do. I assume it's just basically a linux computer, but they've put nice UI on a ton of features.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What brand did you get, Gud?

And for those of you that have NAS, I am still wondering--is the performance lag I see normal for the class of device, or did I choose poorly for one component or the other?

(I don't do enough volume of work on my Windows, wired PC to tell if it has the same lag as the OS X wireless laptop, but over five minutes to populate a Finder window is more than annoying--it becomes disruptive)

I will shift this NAS to be archival only if a new one of similar cost and flexibility will perform better. But I don't know.
