Because I need to know how much longer it is until I have a good stopping point. If I only have a few pages, I can keep going; if this chapter is really long, then I might as well stop mid-chapter if I need to. Or I might need to adjust my reading speed so that I end the chapter by the time I reach my destination.

And...why?

Usually for 'do I finish this chapter before I go to sleep or just stop reading right now' purposes.

Boony I'd try it without the lights first and see how you like the result.

Yeah, I probably should wait. I'm just so anxious to get this project off the ground! And, I'd rather do it as professionally as possible...or not at all. (I'm continually stunned by the poor quality of most vlogs.)

I _always_ dodge ahead to see how far it is to the end of the chapter. The completeist in me never just stops at the end of a page. I can't even stop in the middle of a chapter in an audiobook!

It's boon to me that my ipod tells me how much longer the chapter will take. I can see why having a Kindle do the same would be desirable.

So you just flip forward until the next chapter...I mean, I guess I figured that was the scenario, but it's also worst case since...I just stop reading when I don't want to read any more. Your way sounds like work.

I rarely want to stop reading, it's more that I should stop reading for some reason but there's some leeway in how soon exactly that ought to happen. But if the end of the chapter is an hour away, I'd better bookmark now.

Last night I knew I was dreaming because I was reading (yes, I dream that I'm reading) and I didn't have enough pages left in the book to get to the denouement. And then my subconscious tried to stick all those pages back in without me noticing, and I was all, I'm onto you, dream state.

In graduate school - especially during the Spring and Summer months- I had a really difficult time reading. I read physical books back then, but if I was into a story, I would stay up the rest of the night into the morning to read them. It messed with my sleep. In some ways, I think it is better that Kindle apps kind of eclipse that for me since I don't really know how long I have, I can stop and not think: oh, I can read just a bit more and I'll soon be done.

All the features about the PaperWhite kindle sound awesome to me except that blasted touchscreen. I want more pixels and a non-annoying optionally on backlight! I just want it on a device that doesn't turn pages every time I accidentally hit it with my covers.

I'm interested in the continued low-price Android tablet price war Amazon is waging, but I wish the Fire were a little more traditional. I kind of hate their interface (I jailbroke mine, which makes it better, but it's a little touchy)
