Oooh, yeah, I have that with my vpn and work computer at home sometimes! I reboot, synch the clocks with a server and it is all good again. Of course, that means you have to get the offending computer online somehow. Maybe plug it into the actual internet line? t /talking out of my ass, bigtime.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My computer went online no problem, it just thought it was in 2002.

I have another question! iTunes says I've used 3 of my 5 devices that I can have iTunes on at one time. One of those devices was a work laptop that I no longer have, and one was a desktop I no longer use. Is there any way to get iTunes to give me those devices "back"?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

There should be an option to Deauthorize somewhere in the preferences. Unfortunately I believe how it works is you deauthorize *everything* and then re-authorize the devices you have one at a time.

Just keep in mind if you do that, you can't do it again for another year.

Dammit. I downloaded iTunes to my work laptop, and it won't play any song because "the original file cannot be located". When I tell it to Locate the file, it opens a little window with no songs in it and the file name empty. I don't know what to do with that.

Seriously, if this evening is typical of how "easy" Apple stuff is to use, I'm sticking with PC.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Stupid question, Zen: your music is actually on the work laptop, right?

Dana, that may not be a stupid question. I had iTunes on this laptop before, and deleted it when my boss threw a fit. Since then I've found that everyone else ignored her and kept their iTunes. So I downloaded iTunes again, thinking the music - which is still there - would still be accessible to it. Apparently it is not, but I have no idea what to do about it.

If you deleted iTunes before, it may not have a library to load. Can you try importing your music back in? You won't have playlists and ratings and stuff.

Edit: Or if it's loading the library, maybe check and see what your default directory is, so you can tell it where to find the music.
