I was just going to post that. I saw it on my way to looking up other things.
So should my laptop be completely frozen the first time I'm running Time Machine? The little clock icon is still going, but the trackpad and keyboards are unresponsive.
It's backing up about 175GB, if that matters.
It’s what I used to build the F2F website.
Computer stuff makes me feel so dumb.
Okay, so. My internet speed is ridonkulously slow. Like, 2.39 Mbps download and .60 Mbps upload. I suspect it is my ancient router, a Linksys BEFW11S4 V.2. I want to check and see what my speed is connected directly via USB to the modem, but it Network Preferences tells me that my computer doesn't have an IP address. Airport uses the IP address of the router. I tried using the router IP for the USB, but that seemed to frell everything and I had to reboot my modem and router.
Help, please?
You don't want to plug your computer into the modem using USB, you should plug in with an ethernet cable.
Thanks, Tom. I have a Macbook Air. Unless I'm seriously missing something, there isn't a spot to plug in an Ethernet cable.
I believe you are correct. You have to purchase a dongle from apple that plugs into USB and let's you plug in ethernet to hard wire an Air.
Ah. So I can't use a regular USB cord? What is the USB port thingy on my modem for, then? To plug into a router?
That is a good question. I don't know. Cable modem?
