Okay, so you need to not have had a data issue with the former install. That is more in line with what I was thinking.
Is that a publicised solution, Gud, or something that it took techies to figure out?

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

Yeah, the previous hard drive has to still work.
The solution is in Firefox Help, though they don't spell it out very directly.
Vortex,
You have a couple of options:
Yes, you can use Pages just be aware that there are some limitations with the kind of word processing you can do.
There is also QuickOffice if you want the suite of Office apps.
There is also CloudOn which ostensibly will allow you to use Microsoft Office on your ipad! It is new and free. I have not used it, but people seem to like it.
If you just need to WRITE, not format a whole lot, there are a lot of options, which I am happy to discuss. Just let me know.
Thanks, Gud!
Does anyone have any recs for DVD cloning? My niece is asking, and I can't provide any value-added over Google on this one.
what kind of computer?
PC of some sort. Not Mac.
I have to say I really appreciate how easy it is to restore Firefox and Thunderbird to be exactly the same as it was on the old computer. Nice job, Mozilla, nice job.
I know! All your add-ons, bookmarks, history, everything! It's like nothing changed at all! It was very comforting.
Anyone an expert on DLNA? My Black Armor NAS says it supports it, and I've checked all the boxes worth checking, but I can't get the TV or my tablet to read anything from it. Error messages both readers.
The tablet reads pretty well from the laptop, so that's not the issue. TV works from the laptop too.
Tablet just says "Unable to play" TV says "No files available to playback"
But if I browse to the AVIs on the NAS itself, I can play the same ones that fail directly, with VLC.
I just don't wanna browse the file system on my laptop, dammit. That's not the point.
Is there a likely versioning issue? There doesn't seem to be any sort of update for the NAS firmware available.
Oh, goddamnit.
Corporate email on Androids can no longer be handled natively. Which means that my plugins for Locale/Tasker that knew when I was in a meeting no longer work. I emailed tech support of the company that makes what we have to use (Touchdown by Nitrodesk), and they clearly have never heard of either product. What's *really* frustrating is that they're pretending they understand my question (do you or does anyone else provide a plugin for your application?) without even googling either Locale or Tasker. Their replies are gibberish and irrelevant.
Which makes me really like their product less, because, yeah, I do also judge a company by their support desk. Why should I know about Locale and Tasker and their Android developers apparently don't (or support isn't bothering to check)? It's not obscure knowledge.
