I love my Macbook to teensy little pieces, except I can't mount my Tab or iPod on it like a hard drive. Do people just not care about this, why it hasn't been crowdsolved or hacked or whatever? Getting stuff off my iPod is an issue, and getting stuff onto the Tab is way harder than it should be. Loading up Kies and using that is so much slower than just copying onto the HD device in Windows.
And, no, Android File Transfer doesn't work for the Galaxy. Am I just missing another solution that is out there?
I'm surprised you can't mount them. What kind of iPod is it?
Did you try turning on USB debugging on the Tab?
I'm having issues with a new NAS I've set up to hold media. iTunes claims to be syncing properly, but podcasts aren't syncing at all. The old ones aren't being deleted and the new ones are showing up in iTunes but not on my actual phone.
Any ideas?
Stephanie, sorry I've been remiss in replying earlier. I have a business account with Apple. They should have someone who deals with business accounts in each Apple store. Basically the more equipment you buy the more of a discount you will get. They keep a tally on it. My experience has been that the discount isn't all that great and I actually do better either buying through my source at Full Compass (Let me know and I can connect you with him if you'd like) who can usually get me things at about 5% under list price on Apple, or I buy through Best Buy and make sure I get the credit on my Reward Zone account so that I'm at least racking up some store credit there.
Okay that was weird, it's working fine now. None of the troubleshooting sites I looked at suggested complaining, but hey, whatever works.

To show up as a hard drive? I've never had an iPod show up as a HD on this laptop, but this one is an iPod touch.
USB debugging won't fix the Galaxy issue. It's a known thing. Kies is the only supported method of transfer, and that doesn't even support all file formats. It's really irritating. The Tab uses MTP to transfer files, which Windows supports, and Apple does not. The third party apps like Android File Transfer don't work, because they hard code device support, apparently, and there's no post-Tab release.
Maybe? Sometime?
My fucking phone isn't working properly. Sections of the screen have stopped responding to touch. And not consistently. It used to be the whole screen, but I both rebooted and wiped it down, and now *some* of the phone works. However, I can't bring up the dial pad during a call, or turn on mute. Which means it's no good for work. I haven't installed anything new or done anything to the settings, so I have no idea if it's hardware or software.
Now is *not* the time. I have a backup phone, but it's not great. Not an ongoing choice, even if I get CyanogenMod 9 for it. The poor thing will choke and die.
But there are only two phones worth considering for an upgrade right now, and neither of them have a keyboard, and both of them are expensive to buy outright.
Goddamned cusp of the release period. On the other hand, both phones are severely sweet. But, still, no keyboard. I hate that I'll have to let go of that eventually.
So, I finally figured out what the problem was with my home internet. Apparently, the new cable modems have a built in router. And what happens when you have two routers connected to the same source? Why yes, it's DNS issues! the dumbass contractor didn't realize what would happen if you connected both of them. I seem to recall him asking if I wanted to use their router, but I didn't realize that it was incorporated into the modem, and he didn't seem to know that it would cause conflict. Argh. Everything
seems
to be working now, but we'll see.
