Zoe: Don't think it's a good spot, sir. She still has the advantage over us. Mal: Everyone always does. That's what makes us special.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I just started reading a book on my Kindle Touch while eating dinner. I thought it would be complicated and scary, but it actually worked out really well! I could lay it on the table and then turn pages by tapping with my clean left hand. It was actually easier than reading a real book while eating!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I thought it would be complicated and scary

When you say scary...

I mean extreme fear of getting it dirty and ruined and it malfunctions and explodes.

Yes, I can see how you might think that.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Vortex, on further experimentation, I can sync Pages so I don't know what the deal is. Have you looked at iCloud.com to see if your contacts are correct there? The only other thing I can think of is maybe a preference setting gone awry somewhere along the way - there are individual settings within the iCloud settings on each device that may have been accidentally swiped off.

Eta: and I tried editing a couple of contacts and it took a while for the changes to propagate through the various devices. Maybe half an hour, but I bet there's a lot of variance as to how quickly the syncing happens.

But I am making no progress with the bookmarks. Now I have two History folders on the iPhone and none of my regular bookmarks. Weird.

Hey. New board.

Wait until you try putting it inside a quart-sized freezer bag and reading in the tub. It's the best!

Whooooooa.

I'm sure they sell little Kindle stands, right? To prop it up and make it even easier to read while eating?

Hey. New board.

Meg has a case that doubles as a stand for her old Kindle 2. I don't know if they have any for the smaller new Kindles yet, but they probably will soon.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

P-C,

there are all kinds of stands that would likely work. If you google credit card iphone stands, you can start by using an old credit card, bending it a couple of ways and that would likely work as a temp solution.
