Why the hell won't my iTunes let me drop and drag onto my iPod playlist? Every time I grab something from the main library to put onto my iTunes (because it doesn't sync properly--I always have to grab and drag it), it keeps changing into the symbol for "no can do" (circle with a line through it) as soon as I drag the cursor over to the sidebar.

What does jailbreaking get you other than carrier independence? What are the pros? I see that it's not fully implemented yet in iOS5, and I was wondering how that was negatively affecting people.
What apps/behaviour does it enable?
I needed it for better GV integration. Calling from the GV app on iOS(or its competitors) was very annoying - by jailbreaking, I was able to call directly from the normal iOS dialer, just like on Android. I also had a pull-down settings toggle much like the one on MIUI (which addicted me to that feature) and back on iOS4 I really loved the jailbreak add-on that gave me android-style notifications. Now that better notifications are built into iOS 5 that's less a big deal. You could actually program system-wide gestures for a wide variety of things, which was pretty sweet.
There's a difference between jailbreaking and unlocking. Unlocking gives you carrier independence, and jailbreaking lets you to install apps that don't come from Apples app store.
Jailbreaking doesn't unlock? I thought it was a superset.
You can jailbreak without unlocking. You (effectively) need to jailbreak in order to unlock, though. Carriers can unlock their phones without jailbreaking.
My cousin's boys (who are in elementary school) asked for PS3 headsets. Any recommendations?
Thanks, Tom.
What free remote control software should I install on my father's computer so I can support him from over here? Or is there a web site app that someone recommends?
I use LogMeIn to support family. The first 30 days you have full features, after that you still get free remote control, and have to come up with your own file transfers or pay them for better features.
The basic is free, though, and I can connect between Macs and PCs, and I think they have phone apps, now.
I love logmein and they have iphone and ipad apps that work really well.
In addition to logmein, you might want to look into gotomypc or gotoassist.
