I've got a tracfone too. Works fine, but thinking about Virgin Mobile because of better phones/internet access. I also use skype as my landline. Will have to check out google voice.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I've been really happy with Virgin Mobile so far. It still amazes me that my monthly bill with unlimited data and texting is $15 cheaper than just my phone bill with T-Mobile.
Virgin is good if you are doing more than the minimum. But if you are just doing the 20 bucks worth of minutes every three months thing Trackfone is a better deal. Plus Tracfone offers better service if something goes wrong.
Okay, am I a complete idiot because I can't figure out how to use iCloud? I figured out how to sync contacts and calendars and whatnot. Does it not work like Dropbox?
Not really. You can use it with Pages and Numbers, etc., but it's pretty clunky for that purpose, as far as I can tell. I haven't really delved into it, though.
Okay good. I feel better. I lurves me some dropbox. Thanks to whoever recced it.
Dropbox is awesome, it works so smoothly for me with Windows, Linux, and iOS.
It looks like the Tracphone is going to happen. Should halve our cell phone costs.
Dropbox works the way technology should work, i.e., I don't think about it at all.
I get a little handwavy when I have to share stuff, because I realise how poorly I'm keeping track of it, but my sister's been in here, Hec's been in, Amy, Perkins, a bunch of other Buffistas. Simplest way to keep a computer, two laptops, a tablet, and a phone in sync.
Know what's a disappointment? That NAS I bought. It's providing space, especially for the Time Machine, but no uPNP, which was a big attraction. I might have to redo it. But that's for later. When I get back from home.
Why the hell won't my iTunes let me drop and drag onto my iPod playlist? Every time I grab something from the main library to put onto my iTunes (because it doesn't sync properly--I always have to grab and drag it), it keeps changing into the symbol for "no can do" (circle with a line through it) as soon as I drag the cursor over to the sidebar.
