New Gmail help - is there any way to "pin" open the list of filters? I filter EVERYTHING and I don't like having to scroll over the list to expand it before I can see what new mail I have.

You mean the labels or folders on the left side? I would like to know that as well. That's one of the reasons I went back to the old style after 10 minutes.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Siri gives Apple a 2 year lead over Google. Wow. I wonder what Google will try to do in order to strike back/leap forward, instead of saying stupid stuff like "your phone shouldn't be your assistant".

I found a Greasemonkey script that helps a bit with Google Reader: [link]

Unfortunately, that won't help my work machine, which is IE7, and completely locked down. Bah.

I am posing from my shiny new iPad! I don't know her name yet. What apps should I get? And can I down/upload my bookmarks from Firefox?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Vortex,

the firefox thing is tricky. I would recommend you sync your bookmarks with Safari (do you have a mac) and have the ipad sync bookmarks with safari.

Alternately, I use xmarks to sync my computers' bookmarks and then I use the app to access them if I need to.

Or, you could use pinboard, delicious and use dbd (ipad app) to access those bookmarks.

You might want to search the thread for ipad apps, but otherwise, gizmodo has an apps (best ipad apps) guide. If you give me an idea of the kind of apps you want, I might be able to help.

Nope, up until now, I've always been a PC girl. Will safari accept HTML?
