Erin, it sounds like you've already pretty much made up your mind.
Although I would ask for active subscriber numbers before sinking in all of that time. It looks like this type of article is premium content, and requires someone to sign up with their email address. Many people are too lazy to do so if it's not something directly related to their business/interests. I know the last thing I want is more stuff hitting my inbox.
Edit: And no I haven't forgotten about what I promised you. Trying to get it done this week.
