Our wings are not tired

I'm on AT&T and haven't had major problems and I've had good customer service out of them on the whole.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

1st world problem. As Comcast victims customers We get a number of channels on On-demand we don't get as channels. For example I was able to watch Dr. Who because it is on demand on BBC America, even though I can't watch BBCA on the regular channel. TCM used to be like this for us. And then it suddenly changed to telling us "only with subscription".

And tech support told me that we were never supposed to be able to get TCM on demand. Which means one of these days we will not be able to get BBCA either, and then no more Dr. Who. Oops. Any chance this is not true? Cause I have to admit that it makes sense that if you don't subscribe to a channel they don't want you to see it on demand either.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Gaaaah, Windows Live Mail imported my old mail just fine, but I can't get it set up to actually download my new mail. At first, it started downloading immediately, starting with the most recent mail, and then it stopped, with an error. A couple restarts of the program later, it started going at it again, hanging every now and then but then chugging along. Until it finally quit, giving this error over and over:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Cmail of Polter-Cow account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Server: 'mail.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Secure(SSL): Yes

I've gone back and forth between the secure and non-secure settings, using the default/suggested ports, and I can't get it to start downloading again. At some point, I was even getting log-on errors and had to reset my password for some reason because it wasn't working anymore. And a couple times, it has suddenly started to "Receive e-mail," but it's just a fakeout because I get the error again.

I'm so tired and sleepy. Why won't this just WORK?

OUTLOOK FUCKING EXPRESS COULD HANDLE THIS SHIT.

Coding and Sleeping

Do you have anti-virus software that scans e-mail? It could be borking things up for your e-mail client.

I hoped that was it, but disabling the AVG e-mail scanner and the McAfee Firewall and real-time protection didn't have any effect.

I removed the account and added it again, and it's downloading the inbox again. This time, I moved the largest files out of the inbox temporarily to keep it from hanging, so let's see if it gets all synced up this time.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

It seems I need a new modem. Suggestions?

Actually, the old modem just needs the power switch replaced. Is that something a Best Buy or other shop could/would do?
