Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

It took me about a day to get used to the new scrolling direction. It makes sense in my brain now.
Is it better or preferable in some way
I'm holding out on installing Lion for about a month, so I don't yet know.
It's consistent with scrolling on the iPad and iPhone.
I was wondering about that. It's weird that my brain was going back and forth with no problems between the two styles. Human brains are pretty amazing, actually.
Well, I switched mine under one ID on my computer but not the other one. And then was totally confused for a few minutes until I realized I needed to switch the second one also.
eta: I think it's sort of a testament to how integrated we are with our computers (like cars) and we just navigate without really thinking about how to do it.
Someone noted on Facebook that today's date makes it Wifi Day: 8.02.11 (yes, there's an extra period in the date, but what are you gonna do?).
t edit Perhaps I will celebrate by getting a damn wireless DSL modem and returning the (spectacularly craptastic) wired DSL modem to Cincinnati Bell and stashing my old router in the closet. If we had a closet.
I had the hardest time scrolling on the iPod, and I couldn't have articulated why. And then it gelled.
Is there a good reason I can get Google Voice for the iTouch and not the Galaxy Tab? They're similarly limited in connectivity. I want to text from that interface and not a browser.
This is kind of technology related - my office has gone to using websites for payroll and time management. There's one site where we go, log in, and put in a request for time off (or register time taken for sick leave). There's another where we go to see our "paychecks" (in quotes because it's all done electronically and no paper anywhere). My problem is with the payroll one - every time I go there (twice a month) they've redesigned the site so I have to figure out where to log in and every time they require me to reset the password and my security questions. Every. Damn. Time. It infuriates me, but they don't seem to be able to keep it the same for even a month. sigh ....
can you use a password manager - or is this a force reset.
