Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dolphin and Opera and see which one you prefer. I find Dolphin keeps sessions open better, but I like having them both. Flashlight is useful. Advanced Task Killer. An app for your bank. Bookworm Adao Uninstaller. Catch or Evernote. K9 Mail is better than what came with my phone. Nook, if that applies. Pandora. Skype. Words for Friends.

Thanks, both of you! That will be a great start.

So Fox is going to stop streaming their stuff next day on Hulu unless you can prove you have a cable subscription.

And other networks are probably going to follow, which means anyone who dropped their cable package to just use Hulu is SOL--at least, SOL for a week or more.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

In other words, Fox is putting its full weight behind torrents and other piracy methods.

Seriously, video media content producers (TV, movies) learned absolutely fucking NOTHING from the whole Napster thing with the music industry, did they?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

headdesk

Because, sure, why wouldn't you need a cable subscription to watch broadcast TV over the internet?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Yep. As a cable subscriber, I already download content that I have access to from various sites because of their scheduling shenanigans - (why not let a program that starts at 9:02 run over to 10:05)? I have had more programs cut off at the end and this is a big problem because my tivo records 1 channel at a time.

There are all kinds of ways to find network content on the internets and quite a few of these ways do NOT involve torrents.

I know that; I wasn't implying there weren't. I just think that when the networks -- particularly the broadcast networks -- make it harder for viewers to see programs, piracy is going to keep going up.

Yeah, that's what the tech writer at Slate has been arguing. Make it easy to get the stuff legally, and people won't cheat. Make it clunky or difficult, and they will.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

my sentence wasn't a criticism, it was an enhancement of your previous point. they love to go after torrent sites, but the whole issue is much broader than that.
