Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Actually, they tried to sell me an extra cable in Best Buy for $29 so I could connect it to my computers. J demurred, because I was trying it out, and I can totally use Dropbox for file sharing in the meanwhile. Once I got the thing home, I find out that the power cable is USB on one end, so I could totally use that.
But there are 3G models? I haven't seen that. I will have to do more research today.
eta: That article is a bit hysterical. I haven't mis-hit the power/volume buttons once yet.
ita, did you get the 7" or the 10"?
That article is a bit hysterical.
Yeah, I was kind of thinking that. It seems the reviewer gave it 3 out of 10 because it wasn't perfect.
10", Jessica.
I'm not sure what that reviewer wanted it to be, honestly. I guess all of these are reviewed compared to the iPad, and somehow he feels it fails there. The cable thing is very annoying, and I have no idea why they had to go proprietary (do other, non-iPad tablets do that?), but it seems they don't like that and the placement of the power button, so it's awful.
I have switched from iPhone to Android (HTC Inspire) . What should I install?
Dolphin and Opera and see which one you prefer. I find Dolphin keeps sessions open better, but I like having them both. Flashlight is useful. Advanced Task Killer. An app for your bank. Bookworm Adao Uninstaller. Catch or Evernote. K9 Mail is better than what came with my phone. Nook, if that applies. Pandora. Skype. Words for Friends.
Thanks, both of you! That will be a great start.
So Fox is going to stop streaming their stuff next day on Hulu unless you can prove you have a cable subscription.

And other networks are probably going to follow, which means anyone who dropped their cable package to just use Hulu is SOL--at least, SOL for a week or more.
In other words, Fox is putting its full weight behind torrents and other piracy methods.
Seriously, video media content producers (TV, movies) learned absolutely fucking NOTHING from the whole Napster thing with the music industry, did they?
