WTF. I want my backlit.
I hear ya.
At least I've had mine for five months before a better one came out....
I could cry. Just bought a Macbook Air a month ago, and now the newer, faster, shinier ones come out. I feel like shaking my fist at the sky and screaming, “KHAAAAAAAN!"

That happened to me.
Except for the "eating a rat" part.
I kept my iBook for so long that the MacBook Pro (which I bought as a refurb, so it's a 2010 model, IIRC) is still all goddamn new and shiny to me. I saw the new MacBook Air, and I'm oddly content with my MBP.
FOR NOW.
I'm somewhat confused about the Thunderbolt drive. All my peripherals connect via USB. Are there peripherals out there that are made to connect via Thunderbolt? Or can the user swap a cable? Or is Thunderbolt just awesome-sounding but not very useful at this time?
That's actually another reason I bought a refurb; I wanted a Firewire port and didn't want the Thunderbolt port because it seems of no use to me. But I might be misunderstanding it.

Ding ding ding.

Wow. I had knowledge! t /Buffy
I thought that surely I was misunderstanding it, that somehow it would be possible to use USB peripherals with the Thunderbolt port, but then I realized that computers don't work that way.
Hmmm. Yes, still loving my refurb MBP with the 2 USB ports and 1 Firewire port. (I do also LOVE having an SD card slot. I had no idea how much I would love it.)
Can you use Thunderbolt to boot into target disc mode? Will we ever be able to do that with USB?

Yes.
Will we ever be able to do that with USB?
Doubt it.
