Who here uses Google Voice? I seem to have partially configured it for my phone late one night and suddenly I'm receiving emails of my voicemail messages and what???
I don't even know what the pros are for it, or what I was thinking when I signed up--why would one recommend using it?
The pros are that unlike Skype incoming calls and calls to phones are free. Since I already have an unlimited on year skype plan for the North America (excluding Mexico and n. Guatemala) I've had no reason to try it yet.
ita,
I love me some google voice, but I use it in a somewhat limited fashion. I give out my GV number and I don't have to give out my private cell phone number or home phone. I also like to chat via google chat (in gmail) given att coverage at my house is a nightmare.
You probably need to check your notifications. I have email notifications set for voicemail and texts, and then in gmail I use filters to forward such notifications to my phone. You could have it sent directly or not.
I also like that I can block callers (so they hear a "this number if not in service") message. I get spam calls on the phone number and putting them in a spam group is incredibly satisfying.
So I can get a Google voice number and keep my normal numbers, right? I'm kinda disconcerted by how much change I wrought without paying attention in the first place.
I'm assuming I can get a GV number that will ring both at home and my cell, right? Is this contradictory any with having Google Voice Lite which is what it seems I have right now? This is all very confusing. I need more chocolate.
yes. you are supposed to give out your GV number and it can ring whichever phones you want (or not ring at all and go straight to voicemail).

Why is Firefox suddenly preventing b.org from automatically reloading, and giving me a pop-up message telling me so every time I try to refresh it myself? I haven't changed any settings.
Oh never mind. I did change a setting, not realizing the effect it would have. All better now.
finally convinced it to run everything as an admin, so we've reached a truce of sorts.
Ginger, please tell me how you did this because it is a huge peeve of mine.
also, can anyone tell me how i can get the refresh button back on the stupid new Firefox?
In FF4, refresh is on the url box, on the far right, that little curvy arrow.
