Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I must have some degree of corporate lockdown on my OS or something, because I'm just not seeing the options. But I'll look again tomorrow. Changing to Windows 7 Basic or Classic is the only way I can see easily to stop the behaviour I don't like.

I think Dan and I are both going to get smartphones for our next upgrade. We have T-Mobile, and he was really reluctant, because of how pricey the data pan is, but he's too much of a tech geek to let that stop him.

We're looking at Hulu paid in lieu of our cable, to try and ameliorate some of the costs, and I'm hoping I can also write off part of my phone use, since I use it for business and personal.

I am definitely getting a touchscreen, whatever I do, as apparently I have huge Godzilla-sized thumbs, and I frickin' HATE the tiny, tiny keys on my slide out screen. But I have no probs with the screen on my old iTouch.

It seems the Pope launched a Twitter account today.

I think there's something about this in Revelation.

Who here uses Google Voice? I seem to have partially configured it for my phone late one night and suddenly I'm receiving emails of my voicemail messages and what???

I don't even know what the pros are for it, or what I was thinking when I signed up--why would one recommend using it?

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

The pros are that unlike Skype incoming calls and calls to phones are free. Since I already have an unlimited on year skype plan for the North America (excluding Mexico and n. Guatemala) I've had no reason to try it yet.

ita,

I love me some google voice, but I use it in a somewhat limited fashion. I give out my GV number and I don't have to give out my private cell phone number or home phone. I also like to chat via google chat (in gmail) given att coverage at my house is a nightmare.

You probably need to check your notifications. I have email notifications set for voicemail and texts, and then in gmail I use filters to forward such notifications to my phone. You could have it sent directly or not.

I also like that I can block callers (so they hear a "this number if not in service") message. I get spam calls on the phone number and putting them in a spam group is incredibly satisfying.

So I can get a Google voice number and keep my normal numbers, right? I'm kinda disconcerted by how much change I wrought without paying attention in the first place.

I'm assuming I can get a GV number that will ring both at home and my cell, right? Is this contradictory any with having Google Voice Lite which is what it seems I have right now? This is all very confusing. I need more chocolate.

yes. you are supposed to give out your GV number and it can ring whichever phones you want (or not ring at all and go straight to voicemail).
