this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Am I losing my mind, or is Google not returning cached results anymore? I'm not getting the "Cached" link underneath the search results today. (Or "Similar," either, but that doesn't matter so much.)

t edit At least one other person noticed it: [link]

Okay, I see what they did -- it's moved over to the bottom of the big giant preview image that pops up when you click on the magnifying glass icon next to the result. That's not particularly intuitive.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Okay, but the problem is that the router keeps trying to dish the same IP address to 2 devices. I know it *shouldn't* happen, but it has been for months.

I set my router's DHCP to start at x.x.x.100 through x.x.x.200, which means that I can have up to 100 devices obtain ip automatically, but reserves x.x.x.2 through x.x.x.99 (and 201-254) for static IPs.

Seems to work for me, and if I have to I can change a device to DHCP quickly.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I need some Buffista-riffic help!

I have a small Western Digital external hard drive that I've been using as my back-up via Time Machine. I have an Apple MacBook Pro, BTW.

Anyway, I got tired of dragging it around with me while I was and internet gypsy. Well, I plugged it back in when I got back online, but I just noticed it wasn't backing up. In fact, the computer doesn't seem to recognize it anymore.

I've plugged it into both USB ports and neither make a difference. It did get dropped once...or twice.

Could I have killed it? Is there anyway to get the data off of it?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Can you guys help me make a call? I want to get the cheapest laptop possible. Each of these is $300:

- Compaq - Presario Laptop / AMD V-Series Processor / 15.6" Display / 2GB Memory / 250GB Hard Drive - available today

- Toshiba - Satellite Laptop / IntelĀ® CeleronĀ® Processor / 15.6" Display / 3GB Memory / 250GB Hard Drive - not available til next week

I think the Toshiba is objectively better, because of the memory, right? But I want it NOW! t /Veruca Salt

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

The Toshiba has a better chance of sucking less than the Compaq.

Ha! The Compaq is basically what I have now (from 3 years ago), and I am pretty comfortable with its level of sucking.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ha. I totally agree with Tom. The Toshiba is better.
