Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

iBattery looks nifty.

That's just a weird place to put the Google contact synching. Why would you separate it from the other Google settings? And put it on the computer not the iDevice?

Thanks for the heads up.

And thanks for the list, LeN. I am majorly jealous that I can't run Netflix on my Android. Damn, that would be nifty. But iPod is good.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Is there any digital reader or digital reader software that turns pages automatically. Yes, I am lazy. Please come feed grapes to me while I recline, reading.

Ideally, I could set the page turn frequency by having it calibrate based off of my past page turns in that book. Kinda like a tap function on a drum machine.

If I had automatic page turning, I could knit and read at the same time.

Is this most recent iTouch/iPhone Apple's first retina display?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Is this most recent iTouch/iPhone Apple's first retina display?

I think so.

Do we know what they're going to use it on next? Is there a schedule for it hitting the laptops?

I mean, I think it's a nifty idea, but it's kinda wasted on that tiny screen.

Loving the shit out of my iTouch. Apple really knows how to make something I like to hold in my hand. I prefer the Android OS, but the thing is beautiful.

I can't wait until my sister gets hers and can Skype with it. I don't know if she'll care about most things, but Skype is her main form of communication.

Rumor has it, the iPad 3. Which is why I'm waiting to buy one.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Using Moore's Law to project when retina displays are coming.

TL;DR:

    • iPhone-sized displays: right now
    • iPad-sized displays: Christmas 2013
    • Desktop monitors: Christmas 2015

The longer they stretch out it hitting laptops the better. Mine doesn't remotely need replacing. And I hate that feeling of envy.

I'm still not sure I have an iPad-shaped hole in my life, nor what it would look like. The transitions from iTouch to Android phone to Nook to laptop seem to fill all my tech gaps. But it is really pretty.

eta: Interesting, Tom. Thanks.

iPad-sized displays: Christmas 2013

OH NOES!

I've heard rumors the iPad 3 will come out this fall.

Also, I'll probably buy a new MacBook Pro as soon as it has a retina display. My current one is almost two years old. Or maybe I'll buy one next year, as the new ones are so much faster with the Sandy Bridge processor.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I've heard rumors the iPad 3 will come out this fall.

Oh hell no. They won't do a 6-month cycle -- the iPad 2 will still be in full swing for school year + holidays at that point, and anyway the 1-year refresh is very very established for all of their device product lines by now. (But I do continue to love the Apple rumor mill, which more or less seems to run on nothing more substantial than unicorn farts and mashable saying "I wanna pony! HEY GUYS! STEVE IS GONNA RELEASE A PONY!!")
