My SMS problem was actually a GPRS problem which has been resolved. The perils of not buying your phone from your service provider, I suppose. Now I've just got the same Web browser difficulties that everyone seems to have so I am likely Opera bound.
I'm all excited about the Bluetoothiness, that's how behind the times I am.
I have an Excel question.
I'm making a spreadsheet using hyperlinks to other files on my computer I started the spreadsheet a few days ago but when I came back today to add more info and none of the links worked. I got an error message saying "Cannot Open Specified File". This is Excel 2002.
Did you move the excel file on your computer? When you saved it originally (or when you reopened it), did it add stuff to the URLs as if they pointed to a server instead of local files? (Like 'HTTP://', which shouldn't be there if the links point to local files.)
Oh! I did move the excel file! I forgot about that I moved it from one folder to another. But it didn't add anything, I thought I tried to edit the links but I guess I didn't do enough editing. But now I seem to have fixed the problem and I'm not moving the file again.
I'm the webmaster for the New Orleans Children's Chorus, and I got an e-mail that I was inclined to dismiss as spam. I can't quite tell, though, and I just realized I've let it sit in my inbox. Anyone have any advice on how to figure it out?

Invitation for sing Olympic in Beijing 2008
Games of the 29th Olympic are going to be held in Beijing in the year 2008.
The Olympiad is a grand occasion not only for the people in China but also for all the people passionate for Olympic spirits throughout the world.
The Olympiad is not just for adults. As young children, we cannot compete in the Olympic fields at present; however, we hope to participate in this big event also, cheering and singing for the Olympiad.
We are going to hold a grand show --- “International Children Singing Olympic Songs” ---- in Beijing in 2008, celebrating the 29th Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
We sincerely invite your chorus to sing Olympic songs in Beijing representing your city and look forward to your acceptance of our invitation. We will be honored to send you the detailed information concerning the show.
Hope to hear from you as soon
Best wishes,
China SC Students’ Symphony Orchestra
Why not reply asking them to send the "detailed information", and then see what happens next?
What kind of human being would go phishing for children's choruses? Still something about that email makes me suspicious. If you do reply, Dana- please let us know what happens.
Maybe create a quickie GMail account and use it to reply with?
I only worry about it because I'm sort of the first line of defense before I pass these things onto my mother. But honestly, it does seem pretty unlikely, I guess.
God, Kubuntu is driving me crazy with these random little breakdowns. I can fix them, eventually, after teaching myself command line, but this whole switching to Linux business isn't as smooth a transition as I had hoped.
