Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Warning: it's even more gross than you think it is.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh god, I hadn't even watched the video until now. It moves.

Scola, good looking out! Your warning is incredibly helpful.

HTML/Javascript question:

We have a form with some textareas on it. Sometimes we need to disable a textarea - we do that by putting a "disabled" in the textarea tag. But then we lose the vertical scrollbar functionality. Is there a way of disabling a textarea but still keep the vertical scrollbar functionality?

eta: A quick google says:

Why do you have to use textarea anyway? Just put the text outside. Put it in a div and put a border on it if you want the block to look like a textarea.

Could do that. Anyone know of another way? eta: Can I still get a scrollbar that way?

eta: OK, I used Javascript to set the readonly property to true, instead of using the "disabled" thing. The textarea is not grayed out but my boss says that's OK.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Whoo! I just utilized my new every two to replace the usb mobile broadband modem which was severely bent because of, umm, dropping. I replaced it with Verizon's little mifi, which means both the SO & I are on the internet at the same time! And shortly my Cradlepoint router will show up, and I can plug this one up, and my ethernet devices will have internet! Like my Wii! And Vonage, so we'll have VOIP again! Whoo!

Death Star speaker will destroy the world of lame surround sound

While it looks like it could power your own personal Death Star, this sphere is actually a 62 channel speaker that makes a regular 7.1 channel surround rig look decidedly quaint.

Created by Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), the "death star" sphere has 62 individually driven speakers that they say will create a holographic sonic image of a singer.

No word on whether there are plans to actually put this into production, I guess someone will have to make a 62 channel receiver first.
