If you're running Vista, you can always create a System Restore point. I don't remember if that was possible with XP.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
XP creates restore points.
Actually if you download CCcleaner I think the registry cleaner is more important in speeding things up than the cleaner. These days even old computers usually are not that low on space.
CCclean has checkboxes. You can uncheck boxes for word various MS applications you might not want cleaned. (It tends to put word setting back to fuckin default so I really suggest unchecking the MS office boxes.)
And I really suggest downloading smart defrag. It optimizes your disk much better than the default utility that comes with XP.
Either smart defrag or CC cleaner tries by default to download a toolbar as well as the utility. Just say no to toolbars that come with utilities. Also on smart defrag, go into the auto defrag section and turn auto defrag off so it does not constantly run in the background.
If you have any trouble with "turn this and that off" part email me at profile add and I'll give instructions. But I think they are pretty easy to find, so look first.
Link to Smart defrag the software recced in previous post: [link]
Both CCcleaner and smart defrag are useful, but smart defrag will give you more speed than CCcleaner. But CCcleaner does give you some speed, and the registry cleaner will prevent various other problems as well - will extend your computer's useful life.
I am not sure if this belongs in Fanfi or here, but I have been listenig to podfics lately, and a lot of them have a weird high pitched beeping throughout. Is there any way to get rid of it, as it is driving me insane I have tried the equalizer and they do seem to beep whether or not I use laptop or external speakers.
What's that parameter you put on an LJ URL to force it to "light" or "mine"?
?style=mine
Thank you. It was ugly there for a second.
I'm planning on starting a blog as the website comes closer to being a functional reality. So, should I use Wordpress, Blogspot, or something else?
Opinions or links would be much appreciated.
My brother and one of his daughters have blogs on Wordpress and they like it. They post a lot of pictures on their blogs and Joe's automatically notifies anybody on his Facebook friends list when there is a new entry.
The SO uses blogspot.
