Buffistechnology 3: "Press Some Buttons, See What Happens."
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
It was fun! Now I want to skype with ALL the buffistas!
And now I have a Guitar Hero mic dangling like a...dangling thing from my high-tech wire holder (aka, a potato chip bag holder clipped to a scarf on my bulletin board, which holds all my not-in-use-right-now wires.)
I am rockin' like Dokken.
I am rockin' like Dokken.
And we know not to mess with Dokken
Now that Skype has been mastered, I'm on to the next project...moving some movie files off my computer and on to dvd.
I now have imovie and idvd, which I'm given to understand will accomplish this, but the process seems to be taking roughly one DAY per file.
Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong?
Okay, y'all probably know this, but I didn't:
iPhone does have a caps-lock function.

Facebook etiquette question: Facebook is suggesting I "friend" a couple of celebrities, I guess because of the mutual friends thing. But are you really supposed to offer to friend people you don't know either in meatspace or electronically? This is just Facebook trying get everyone to friend everyone else for marketing purposes right?
Not sure it's a technology question, but if the celebrity doesn't want you as a friend, they don't have to accept the offer.
I don't think "supposed to" comes into it. Different people play by different rules.
Typo, different people have different rules on FB--some friend everyone they've ever met once--you go out at night, meet a friend of a friend and are like "awesome, I'll add you on FB!" Or may have never met their friend's sister, but have heard about her and commented after her, and voila! Friends! Others only have actual close friends. ...Personally, I wouldn't friend a celebrity I didn't actually know, because I figure that's what a fan page is for, but...
javachik, I didn't know that, but now I'm so confused, because I apparnetly already had capslock on, but swear it hasn't been working...hmmmm.
Yeah, I don`t friend celebs I don`t know in meatspace (well, colin excepted probably) but that`s just an arrogance thing on my part. The celebs I know are fine with it and friend everybody.
Marketing doesn`t come into it, other than social media`s regular methodologies. It really is just the common friends thing.
meara, the shift button will turn blue when you've successfully engaged caps lock.
I figure that's what a fan page is for, but...
Some people never got around to making those, and use their friends pages for those. And then butt up against the upper friends limit.
I have only friended celebs who I (a) like, and (b) know someone I know.
So, I got Colin. I need to be more FB slutty, obviously!
I HAVE friended a bunch of my old students. I figure they are all graduated now, and I love keeping in touch with them. I'm very aware that FB is completely public, even with the "privacy" options, and it's a great way to keep in touch with all kinds of people.
I just don't understand how people can think it is not a public forum.
