This was an external drive. I bought it on the basis of its having the fewest LEDs on it.

He works for the federal government; there is no way they are buying him a Mac. He likes to work on his own machine and thinks it works better, but my guess is he's not actually supposed to use it for work. There are all sorts of wacky rules and procedures about this stuff. To get the internet connected in his office at work, he had to put in a requisition to a work group in Oregon.

I used to have about two dozen of the ACE 1200 models I grabbed out of the pile someone dropped off at the city dump in my hometown.

God I ad fun tearing them apart and got a good many of them to work.

Alas, I eventually had to dispose of them.

At least I don't think there are any more at my mom's house...
