I seem to have decided it's time for me to get a new TV.
I went back threadsucked back a few months to see what had been said on the topic, so I know that Jessica likes her Samsung. Any other recs?
Also, I know that I will need to get a new cable box that works with HD, and I have pretty much convinced myself to get the Tivo Premiere, and I see that I need blu-ray or a better DVD player (I think that part may wait a few months).
Anything else I need or should want?
If you Netflix, a PS3 will do Instant Watch without having to get the Roku or doing any other stuff. The PS3 also plays Blu-Ray dvds. We don't game (shush), so we sent all the gaming stuff to StY so he and the kids can use it. We kept the unit and one controller, and we're set for Blu-Ray and Instant Watch.
We have the Samsung flatscreen and home theatre system--audio bar and dvd player, plus separate subwoofer, and we've been extremely pleased with the setup, plus Comcast's cable box/dvr.

I am wondering how much longer our 2 year old tube tv will hold up. It seems to be starting very slowly.
TiVo will do Instant Watch too, as well as Amazon, I think, and maybe Blockbuster. And Premiere will give you even easier access to all those sources than my Series 3, which puts it all out there pretty much.
I have an LG, which I'm pretty happy with. But I went with 720, and no point in doing that these days.

I've had my tube TV since 2004, and it's doing fine. I figure one day I will have to buy a flatscreen, though. And then I will come here and ask for recommendations because everything will be shiny and new.
Thanks! I think I am going to go with the Tivo over the Comcast DVR, mostly so that I don't have to give Comcast any more money than I already do.

I've had my Zenith tv since 1997, and it still works fine. Despite that the cat knocked the huge heavy thing off onto the floor once. Cracked the case, but otherwise undamaged. In fact, I kinda like it better than my new flatscreen high-def tv.
Sorry, that was a typo. My TV is 20. ish. It might be able to drink.
We love our new Panasonic, but it's a plasma, which is not the way most people are going.
We got a Visio, and it seems to be just great.
Course, my last TV was elderly, so my comparison values are not very technological.
