Depending on the carrier, a Blackberry Pearl might be a cheaper PDA-phone option than the Treo. I think Kristin has one.
Way way WAY late to this party, but yes, I do. I really love it as a phone/PDA/email/browser, though the Blackberry software only works with PCs. It can be synced to iLife on Macs via a beta version of Missing Sync--though not flawlessly yet. That software has only recently been developed, and Missing Sync is working on a more reliable syncing program such as the ones it has with Windows Mobile platforms etc.
The keyboard is reduced, as said earlier, but the predictive typing is quite good and hardly takes longer than typing on a full PDA keyboard. I would recommend it for anything *but* taking notes at a meeting or some such--my thumbs just aren't that speedy.
Love the pearl scroll feature, btw, and I'm finding the phone overall more intuitive and user-friendly than my Treo or my Cingular 8125 were. Plus? It's RED! Well, mine is, anyway. It's also thin and pretty small, which is really nice.
This may be a dumb question, but can you put books (like eReader) on a Blackberry? One of the main things I use my PDA for is packing a whole bunch of books with me.
I'm currently in the process of (finally) consolidating all of my domain hosting and registration on Dreamhost.
1 of my domains is currently registered with GoDaddy. When I tried to transfer it, the "email to the current owner to make sure you're allowed to do this" dealie was sent to an email address that I haven't had for several years, and doesn't appear anywhere that I can see on my GoDaddy account. (I signed up with them pre-Gmail, so it must have been the one I used, but I updated all of my account information ages ago.)
Anyone had this experience & know how I can fix it? Is there somewhere other than "Account Owner Information" I should be poking around in on GoDaddy?
[fixed! Apparently updating "Account Owner" does not also update the account owner info for your domains - that has to be done from the "manage domains" menu. Very inconvenient.]
Jessica, were you the one who recommended Dreamhost to us? If so, thank you! ND and I are both using it now and love it.
Probably not, because I switched to it on the recommendation of someone here too. Maybe Dana?
I use itbut I can't remember if I recced it or not.
I use it for my Provocateuse site, and really like it.
I'm not sure why Buffistas isn't hosted there. But I'm too lazy to properly consider a switch right now. I should go back and look at their plans anyway.
Dreamhost is mostly shared hosting, they have dedicated machines, but it isn't their focus and the rates on the dedicated machines aren't great. I believe we didn't go with Dreamhost for b.org because we wanted a dedicated machine the last time we switched.
::snarl::
I still have no sound. Everything's plugged in properly, the speakers make hissy noises when I unplug and plug them, and a virus scan shows clean. I turned it off and left it off all night, and have restarted once since; no luck. Any other ideas? I don't even know where to start.
I just went and peeked and they don't offer PostgreSQL and don't seem to intend to. I can't explain why even if we don't go that way I want a host that will.
It's a whole package thing.
Still perfectly happy with them for provocateuse. Nice, simple, clean, tidy.
