A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

What ita said.

I just noticed the Tivo Series 4 announcement on Gizmodo. [link] Count me as underwhelmed. I certainly don't see any reason to dump my Series 3, even if Tivo allows me to transfer my subscription.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Just from a quick scan of that report--I already have Swivel Search. I like it a lot, but don't use it that much. It sounds like most of what they're pimping.

Just one CableCard--does that mean one tuner, or still two shows at a time?

A keyboard on my remote would be cool, though.

Me neither. It would be nice if the S3 machines could be updated with the new search features (and HD interface) but it's not something I'm going to lose sleep over.

I'd be mildly more peeved if the S4s came with the qwerty remote, but apparently that's another extra you have to pay for.

My S3 has a multistream cablecard that can record 2 shows at once.

How many different S3s are there? And how different are they?

I think there's just the HD and the HD XL. The only difference between those two is the size of the hard drive.

I'm pretty sure I have two CableCards in mine, though.

Getting 1TB of storage tomorrow. Very excited. No S4 for me anytime soon. I'm happy.

Mine has two slots, but at least one of them accepts CableCard-M, which is what my cable company prefers.

I have the original S3 (pre-HD and HD XL), and I remember the instructions being pretty clear that you needed 2 cable cards; it wouldn't work with just one. But maybe newer cablecard technology made those instructions obsolete? Or maybe the newer S3 machines have updated cablecard-reading hardware?

Our wings are not tired

The original S3 needs two single stream cards. All other Series 3 can use either one multistream or dual singlestream cards.
