Generally, servers can detect if a mobile device is requesting a page.

eta: isn't there some ratio for the size of the TV versus how far away you generally watch it from?

The Vizio is a decent budget brand, but from what I understand they don't have the best record for longevity.

Yes, I know. But I wish it would be easier bringing up mobile pages on a laptop because when I'm on a metered data connection, mobile pages are the best thing for me to check gmail, etc.

Thanks! The Samsung isn't that much more expensive, but the choices are 40" and 52", a big difference.
