Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So I bought the Virgin wireless broadband thingie for my laptop. I'll let y'all know how it works.

Punishingly Intricate

Another Word 2007 question, I cannot figure out how to insert the total number of pages as in Page # of #. It used to be on the handy header/footer toolbar. I can figure out how to insert and format the page number but not the total pages.

After working with Word 2007 for 4 months, I said "fuck it" and I moved over to a Mac. I am someone who found it so objectionable that I never adapted. I hope you find it easier than I did.

Oh how I wish that were an option. The Government wants me to be in pain.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

lisah, is it under the option called "Quick Parts"? I haven't used that, but it looks like you can go to Fields, DocProperty, and then Pages.

(Quick Parts? WTH, Word?)

Can you just go to the "Insert" ribbon and select one of the Page Number styles that has 'Page X of Y'?

That's the only way I've found but I don't want it to freaking style my document for me!! It's so ridic. Seriously. I feel very alone in my office about this because nobody else really cares how things look, I guess. possibly also I'm not the most patient person in the world.

I can get to that field but I can't figure out how it works.

Can you reformat it after it's inserted? It'll put in the fields for you, but you can change it after that.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

If you insert a field that displays the current page, then insert a field that displays the total number of pages, and then put "of" between them, that should work. Though it seems ridiculously convoluted. I also had to right-click and Update Field to get the total number of pages field to update.

Yes, Word 2007 sucks balls. And no one here wants to uninstall because of some drama with our Microsoft contract.

Hey. New board.

lisah: [link] . It's basically what Dana says, but it shows that it's not that different from how it was done in 2003. Apparently, all they've done is remove the option from the Header/Footer toolbar. Which is stupid, but so it goes.
