Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I thought o_a meant the cursor location thing. I can send my laptop to sleep by sending the cursor up off into the top left corner.

t pats self on back

After much head scratching and trying various things, I figured out how to transfer files from my Mac to the Win7 machine. I wasn't smart enough to do it old school style of ftp via terminal (almost, but not quite). But then remembered smb! Ding! Transferring video files now. Much better than geek stick (although, maybe not as fast).

Our wings are not tired.

I'm on my new home laptop and it's weird. I forgot about the zillion adjustments needed to get a new computer just how I like it.

I hate that. I'm still finding stuff I forgot to adjust on my work computer I got months ago.

It's also huge. Because I am too stupid and was distracted when I was choosing it. Why did I think 15" sounded small? Proly because I spent all December looking at large tv screens.

But it's mostly going to stay home and be the main computer here, so that's okay.

Okay, I am WAY excited about how easy Windows 7 is. And how wonderful iTunes 9 is. Wow. Windows found my wirelessly networked printer all by itself and set it up in the background when I wasn't even looking.

And it's been a long time since I got a new computer; this thing is so fast it's already downloaded all of the music from my portable hd, something it took HOURS to do on my old laptop. Neat.

I keep looking at my co-worker's 17" and coveting, but seriously, 15 is good for me. I must repeat that.

I am sad that when my new computer comes in it will need a new name. I've been tapping away at Cass(andra Cain) here for so long, and I love her. I will still have her, until she fails her final fail, but I'm going to have to break in a new girl. Don't know who. Currently it's either Martha Jones or Donna Noble. I'm torn. Oh, and also Martha Washington. But not that one. Her.

Maybe the new girl will just be Martha. That should cover a multitude.

And I'm grabbing an app I saw someone use called Smultron just because I liked the title. I'll work out what the hell I can do with it later.

My new laptop is Lucille, after Lucille 1 and 2 and also as homage to BB King.

As a mac snob, I'm surprised that I'm not gritting teeth yet. Glad I got the laptop with Win7 and not XP. The test will come traveling and how easy/hard it will be to log on to various networks.

ETA as for size, I got a 15.6 wide screen, and think it's plenty large. Thankfully it's not heavy.
