Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

McDonald's Nationwide Free Wi-Fi Starts Today

Starting today, fast-food restaurant McDonald's will begin offering free Wi-Fi access at 11,500 of its 14,000 U.S. locations. It's a nice improvement from the $2.95 they were previously charging for two hours, and it could come in pretty handy in a pinch, considering the ubiquity of McDonald's.

Hey. New board.

Becky,

Is there any real reason to make the stationary desktops wireless? Almost all wireless routers provide the option of plugging in with an ethernet cord instead.

It sounds like you could buy pretty much any 802.11n router (I use Apple routers, which you probably don't want, but the hive can suggest whether you should go with Netgear, D-Link, Linksys, or other), put it near your desktop, and continue running ethernet from the desktops to the router. The laptop will be the only computer moving around, so it's the only one that really needs wireless, which the router will make available. If you want to get rid of the ethernet cable currently running from your husband's computer to yours, you could get an adapter just for his desktop.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

the hive can suggest whether you should go with Netgear, D-Link, Linksys, or other

Honestly, I don't think there's any major difference in quality among the big three router manufacturers. People seem to have good or bad experiences based on individual devices.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I have a problem with my MacBook Pro and I have given up trying to find help at the Apple site.

Just a few days ago, I noticed that the little light on the power cord wasn't on or as bright as it used to be, and that the battery wasn't charging anymore. I checked the info in the System Profiler and it says it is good and not dying, but it is not charging.

I'm at a loss. I usually run the computer with the power cord, but I want that battery there for in case.

Any ideas?

Thanks, le nubian.

According to coconut my capacity is at 92%. I can't figure out why it's not charging.

The cord works to power the computer. I'm stumped.

Do you mean plug the computer into a new socket or put the mag plug into another port on the computer?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

use the plug in a new socket in the wall and see if there is any difference. I heard of mag plugs going kaput, but I'm not sure if that is your situation yet.
