That's awesome, Tom.
Thanks, all, for the Win 7 enablement. By the way, I should have posted this earlier, but the $30 Win 7 deal is available to anyone with an .edu email account. Try this: [link]
AT&T Readying For the End of Analog Landlines
"AT&T, in response to a Notice of Inquiry released by the FCC to explore how to transition to a purely IP-based communications network, has declared that it's time to cut the cord. AT&T told the FCC that the death of landlines is a matter of when, not if, and asked that a firm deadline be set for pulling the plug. In the article, broadband internet and cellular access are considered to be available to everyone, though many Americans are still without decent internet access."
No! Don't take my landline!
What will fax machines do then? Do they work over VOIP?
Yeah, let me be clear! Broadband internet and cellular access is most certainly not available to everyone!
Although, in my case, landline is not available to me either, so...
Oh, but fax does work over VOIP. I'm pretty sure that was my setup one of these configurations ago.
Yeah, my entire office is VOIP and our fax machines still work.
one could also use a fax service like maxemail to send and receive faxes. I think K7 is free.
All of the faxes I need to send are of signed documents. Once I have them digitally I usually have the option (and I avail myself of it) to email it anyway.
Yeah, my entire office is VOIP and our fax machines still work.
So is ours, but all our faxes come to us electronically via email anyway, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
