Actually sending something from a computer to a TiVo is simple (if the TiVo has WiFi), right?
If you're running TiVo desktop, your computer shows up as a source in the listings. I just haven't added anything in there since I got the new computer. All it has in there is stuff I've copied off the TiVo itself.
I'm out of touch with what the Mac software will do. I need to look into that too.
TiVo Desktop is fussy about what formats you can download to the TiVo. I've been using pyTiVo instead of TiVo desktop which easily allows me to transfer most anything I ahem. The Mac version was ridiculously easy to set up.

Does it also allow you to transfer stuff off your TiVo and view it locally?
The PS3 was the benchmark Blu-Ray player for the first couple of years but in the past 12 months or so a number of the standalone ones have been outperforming it from what I understand. We have a PS3 in the living room for games and Blu-Ray and it works great, but they are huge and don't stack well into regular component setups and have a big fan in them as well. I picked up a Samsung Blu-Ray for the bedroom system recently. Haven't had a chance to compare the two yet, but it seems like it's a good performer.

Now that I think about it, there may be two programs that I set up on my Mac -- one for each direction. I'll check when I get home and report back.
So, anyone who used Notepadd++ - is there a way to find unbalanced brackets, parenthesis, etc?
Jon is right, on the mac, pytivo is the superior product to Tivo Desktop. I use it all the time and it can be a little quirky: I have to restart the program here and there, but that is a very minor inconvenience.
To transfer files off the tivo, I believe I use ITivo.
What LeNub said. iTivo can get stuff from the Tivo onto your Mac; pyTivo goes the other way.
it was not immediately apparent that pytivox encodes as it sends it to the Tivo until I had been using it for a few months. If you have an Avi, you don't really need to do anything to it, just transfer it to Tivo and pytivox does the rest.
Isn`t there a new slimline ps3? Also, check sonystyle.com and go to its outlet as I think they`ve got a few refurb blu-ray players right now. I am looking at buying from them shortly as my dvd burner has gone kaput.
