That's my girl, large and in-charge. Okay, teensy-weensy and in charge.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Does it also allow you to transfer stuff off your TiVo and view it locally?

Now that I think about it, there may be two programs that I set up on my Mac -- one for each direction. I'll check when I get home and report back.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So, anyone who used Notepadd++ - is there a way to find unbalanced brackets, parenthesis, etc?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Jon is right, on the mac, pytivo is the superior product to Tivo Desktop. I use it all the time and it can be a little quirky: I have to restart the program here and there, but that is a very minor inconvenience.

To transfer files off the tivo, I believe I use ITivo.

What LeNub said. iTivo can get stuff from the Tivo onto your Mac; pyTivo goes the other way.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

it was not immediately apparent that pytivox encodes as it sends it to the Tivo until I had been using it for a few months. If you have an Avi, you don't really need to do anything to it, just transfer it to Tivo and pytivox does the rest.

Isn`t there a new slimline ps3? Also, check sonystyle.com and go to its outlet as I think they`ve got a few refurb blu-ray players right now. I am looking at buying from them shortly as my dvd burner has gone kaput.

Our wings are not tired.

I got the Panasonic DMP-BD605 from Costco for $129. I like it just fine, but don't own any Blu-Ray dvds, so haven't yet seen how good it can look. Gotta say the Roku, with its RGB inputs into the tv makes a damned swell picture. Streaming vid has never looked so good to me.

And a Buffista has claimed my old Sony vcr/dvd combo too! Yay!

Wow, two days before Christmas....

Amazon DOWN After DDoS Attack Cripples Amazon, Wal-Mart, Others

f you've been doing some last minute Amazon holiday shopping on Wednesday evening, you've probably noticed that Amazon's web site was sluggish and, at times, completely down. The same fate greeted Wal-Mart, Expedia, and a number of smaller sites. The reason? A severe DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack on the servers of Neustar, the company that offers DNS services to many major companies under the name UltraDNS.

eta: this is from last night. Dunno if it's still happening....

I was on amazon and it seemed okay. Maybe I chose the right times? it seems fine now.

Wow. I lucked out, looks like. I was actually impressed with my Amazon customer service. (Yes, I caved my one-click boycott from a decade ago, their prices were $40 under their competitor. Forty bucks!) They sent via USPS to my street address, and I'm so rural that I don't get postal service, so I had to call them and tell them their package wasn't going to show up, and I didn't want to wait the four weeks the instructions said to, and what could I do? They said no problem, placed a free replacement order with gratis overnight shipping. Part arrived two days ago, and the rest today. It was supposed to come yesterday but, snow!

Anyway, Christmas is saved and the SO will be very happy with his themed present when he gets to open them tomorrow.

Bummer about the breakdown for everyone else last minute shopping.
