Rob, thanks, that looks like it did the trick. And the files work just fine off my hard drive. I'm not sure what problems the developer was having. Let me hand these to him tomorrow.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
When I went to change the batteries, the new batteries did not work. tried with various sets and brands of batteries. An old Olympus we got on sale.
And thanks Beth. Sounds worth considering.
Are there Netbooks for under $300 that have a cd burner in them? Or should I give up hope on that? I'm trying to buy one for my crew, so they can check e-mails, and post to our google site while at work. It'd be great if they could burn a cd or two as needed during tech rehearsals. But I'm wanting cheap more than high function.
I've never seen a netbook with a CD burner - AFAIK they all give up the optical drive so they can be made small.
Wget worked like a charm, Rick. Developer is all hooked up.
What tools do you guys use for web log analysis? For privacy reasons Google Analytics is pretty much off the table. Discussion here has centred around WebTrends and Unica Netinsight, but I was wondering what else was out there at the top of the market, especially something we could sample.
Yeah, typically netbooks don't even have CD *drives* let alone burners -- but we bought an external USB burner that we swap between netbooks and optical-drive-died laptops with 3 OSes, and it works perfectly, plug/play on all of them. I'd vote netbook for mobility and one or two externals at a central location if you *really* need it and it's not just make-work.
Also, we have a lot of weird/mismatched/half-dead hardware. This is probably not news.
thanks. Glad I asked, or I would have been looking for ages.
So what makes it a netbook? Size?
