Help! Renfield the iPod has developed a weird noise. Every now and then, no matter what I'm listening to, a blep-blep-blep distortion-type of noise happens. It doesn't matter what volume I've got the iPod on, it doesn't matter which headphones I'm using, and it doesn't matter if the iPod is plugged into speakers. Does anyone have an idea what might be going on?

restart the ipod and see if that helps.

I'm pretty sure I've restarted it recently, but hey, I'll give it a try!
is it a flash version of iPod, or hard drive type? It might be the drive going bad.

Hard drive. Nooo, Renfield can't die! Because if I have to replace this iPod, I would feel too self-conscious to have the same phrase engraved on the back. (Renfield says "Queen of the Goths", because it was a present from a group of friends.)

Has it started eating flies?

As opposed to files.
Hey, for the record, I got that Netgear b/g router linked upthread, and it totally works, and I don't notice it being any slower than I was before. Good times!
Hee. I saw you announce elsewhere, jesse. Are you wondering why you didn't do it long ago?

If that made Renfield stop making the funny static-y noise, I would be fine with that. The reset did not seem to take care of the problem. Crap, I'm going to need to save my spending money for a new iPod, aren't I?
