Ha, as I was suspecting based on the sad, sad noise coming from my computer, the fan finally died (I was afraid that if I turned my computer off that it wouldn't be able to survive, and I was right). Luckily, my replacement fan should be arriving tomorrow. My computer shouldn't fry in that amount of time, should it? It's not like I use a lot of processing power. I may turn my computer off before I go to work just in case.

Does the fan speed normally vary with the amount of processing you're doing? If not, then I wouldn't run it without a fan, as it's the kind of processor that always produces a lot of heat.

It's definitely gotten louder at times when I'm streaming a large video or something. Or other times. So yeah, it definitely gets loud when it's doing big things.
If the answer to your question was no, I would never have noticed a change in volume from my computer, right?

Flash controls have suddenly stopped working on this computer. (Meaning I can't click on the Play button on a YouTube videos or play Lexulous.)
I tried upgrading to the latest version of Flash, but no change. I'm on a Macbook Pro running Leopard and Firefox 3.5.3

Huh - restarting Firefox fixed the Lexulous issue, though embedded YouTube videos still seem broken.
Also, Firefox moved or removed the "Clear private data" menu option in the last update. Grrr.
