Windows/Screen sharing question (mind you, I can use Windows, just not super Windows savvy)
As we move into the new building, I want to reallocate an old computer to monitor the wireless mics at mix position AND backstage. As I understand it, the application is nominal on resources, just uses a network connection. But I'd love for that ability at the (2) locations. So I was thinking either a KVM share type of thing, or maybe a netbook doing a Windows Screen Share type of thing. Can a cheap netbook do that type of thing? Thinking maybe the netbook could be useful for other projects as needed. Or would a decent KVM be cheaper and a better option?
Serial. Should have food to put in there, might explain hunger.
Anyhoo. So I'm playing with the new Firefox. 2 things already. 1) When I loaded the Message Center, it popped up something about firefox stopped this page from automatically reloading, then there was an "allow" button. Naturally I clicked it. Which made it do it again. Seems a bit crazy. Where would I find the allow these sites to reload as needed settings?
2) They hype this location-aware thing, which would be great for maps. I love that feature on the iPhone. For the life of me, I can't find where to enable that? Any thoughts?

as for #2, I found if you do a "Get Info" on a page, in the Permissions tab, at the bottom, there is a "Share Location" with the options "Always ask" "Allow" and "Block". Even in ALLOW mode, google maps doesn't have a button saying "from where you are". I'm guessing that's code that still needs to be written. I was hoping since the video showed a Google map doing it, that it was implemented.
ETA again
OK, so I found why Message Center was doing that reload warning. Apparently I checked in preferences "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page". Unchecking that stops the annoying thing for the Buffista site. I wish "allow" would remember that *THIS* site it's ok to do that.
Is there any way in Skype to make yourself only visible to your contacts or people who search for you via your email addresses? I'm tiring of the spambots.
Forget it. Just had to trick the iPod.
So I must be a masochist or something. I have double backed up my laptop and blown away the hard drive, to reinstall OS X. I clearly enjoy watching progress bars.
I need to do that on my work laptop at some point.
So it looks like Folders4Gmail will be updated soon to work w/ the new Gmail features:

Time remaining on the install: about an hour. Then the system update to 10.4, then ProTools. Everything else can wait for later.
So you will hopefully have ProTools later today for tech?
