I heard that ATT does lack the capacity. At least at 3G levels.
Don't they offer MMS on pretty much any other phone on their network? My RAZR was on AT&T, and it did MMS, I thought.
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

I don't mean for MMS - I mean for tethering.
As far as I can see, they're not going to allow tethering at all. MMS will just be delayed. (Which is EXTREMELY LAME.)
Oh man, video support. Now I want new hardware too.

Ah. I meant MMS.
Even then... They sell 3G laptop connect cards. Isn't tethering just turning your iPhone into a laptop connect card?

I've read some speculation that they'll allow it, but only for stupid amounts of money. Every other carrier in the world is offering it immediately for free.

Sean, I think you may be applying too much logic to AT&T's decision-making procedures.
If they let people tether their iPhones to their laptops, what's to stop people from marrying box turtles? Won't somebody please think of the children???
ION, $299 for the 32GB phones! Want!
seriously, Jessica. i'm frothing at the mouth! can't wait to get rid of my krazr.
I'm trying to convince myself that i don't need a 32GB phone that that 8GB is fine. It's not, but it's really not that big of a deal. so, I keep telling myself.
Sean,
I think that tethering will strain the network and ATT doesn't want that. If the iphone had been less successful, they might be able to risk it, but having every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there tethering? We won't be able to make cell phone calls for days. Especially since iphone users typically use about 3-5X as much data as they average phone user already.
Technically, I have an unlocked Nokia phone that I use to tether on occasion (like a day here or there).
So, no change to the 17" MacBook Pro besides a price reduction?
