lori, I lost some photos once quite awhile ago and used a program to recover them quite successfully, but unfortunately I don't remember what it was. The one I used was some command line freeware I think. Anyhow a Google search turns up a lot of choices.

I imagine that a lot of them have free trials so you can see if it works before buying one to have handy or maybe there will be a free one you can use.

lori, I agree with Gud--there are a couple of programs, like Undelete (I think! it's been awhile since I used it) that allow you to see the files on a disk after the file tree has been trashed, which is what it sounds like is happening with yours. It might be worth downloading Pathfinder, too (free 21 day trial, but worth every penny of purchase) just to see if the files are hidden on the disk or not, which the finder won't show you. Thanks Gud and SA! A work friend just gave me a copy of Data Rescue X and I'm gonna try that today. I've already tried it on a different flash drive and recovered files from last July!
