Gwen: Demon, OK? The whole nine—cloven feet and horns and teeth. He wasn't wearing lamé though. Lorne: Yeah, the evil ones can't pull it off. It gets camp.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

For non-sequitor reasons I just re-read this IO9 "natter" post about women and comics: [link] and then got lost in some of the comment threads discussing the depiction of women in comics, including rape culture and fridging. Unlike most posts on things that are sensitive, by and large the comments are well thought out and informative.

So I figured I'd drop it here if anyone is interested in rekindling ire against Millar, et al.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Him trying to show the littlest Spider-man how to "thwip" is awesome.

I hadn't heard of Dean Trippe before today, but he just made me tear up (tw: child abuse).

Sadly, I think I've reached the point where I just don't care what happens in the comics anymore. Seems better for my mental health that way.

As long as we continue to get a handful of decent cartoons/TV shows/movies every so often, that will satisfy my need for super heroes.

People can die without it being a bad comic. I can get proactively upset about missing someone (although I could spend the rest of my comicking life catching up on their canon experiences), but that doesn't make it a bad story or not worth reading.

Or, well, it doesn't mean it was a worse story than it would have been had they survived, or that it's a worse story than Thor 2 (yeah, still got those issues).

Oh, I'm not saying death automatically=bad or anything. I'm just tired of the stunts and the deaths and the general cluelessness going on at the top of DC and Marvel lately. Or more specifically, I'm tired of caring about it.

WTF is up with Shia LaBoeuf ripping off Daniel Clowes? This is, like, epic levels of stupid.
