Oh, fuck.

Joe Kubert, RIP.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

85, though. Good long run.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Joe Kubert, RIP.

If I lived to 85 with his legacy I'd die a happy man.

I loved his art so much. Easily my favorite of the classic era DC artists.

Big fan of his Tarzan and Enemy Ace and Sgt. Rock stories.

Nobody show this to Scrappy: How tacky is DC?

Ah, they saw sense.

If you didn't click on the link in time, the obit used to say:

"We are saddened to learn of the death of our colleague and friend Joe Kubert. An absolute legend in the industry, his legacy will not only live on with his sons, but with the many artists who have passed through the storied halls of his celebrated school. His latest work on BEFORE WATCHMEN: NITE OWL was among his best, and we are so honored to have worked side-by-side with such an unforgettable force in both comics and in life." - DC Entertainment Executive Team

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh, okay, yeah, I was really confused too.

It's better than awful that they listened to feedback and took that shameless shill down. I mean, there's no question that they couldn't spit in their virtual writers room without hitting someone who would have a tearjerking Kubert story to tell.

I shudder to think that someone who knew him personally might have written or okayed that. It's awful, and it shouldn't take outraged fans to get them to realise it.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Okay, this made me chuckle: [link]
