SOOO glad I gave myself the Gaiman & Moore exemption when I swore an eternal embargo on buying DC comics.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Comic Con animation for DC Nation Block: short of Catwoman in 1930s Shanghai.

Looks a lot like Korra, actually. I love the way they used her whip for the animation.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I just finished The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Century: 2009, and I'm a little "meh" about it. The parody/commentary of making Harry Potter the Antichrist was more heavy-handed than I expect from Alan Moore. But I will forgive everything because Mary Poppins shows up, and she's essentially the Supreme Being. Which not only makes perfect sense to me, but made me make squeaky noises of glee while I was reading it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I stumbled on this post: [link] while I was looking for pics of Perez-era Gar Logan, and it makes me want to read every casting post for every comic ever. It's casting for the Perez Titans, and it's remarkably wrong and remarkably right.

How can you write a piece in 2011 and eliminate Henry Cavill from the running because he's Superman, but cast Chris Evans (as Ravager)? Anyway...the author has some strange essentialist notions of having to be European to play a Markov, etc, which seems to kinda ignore the entire premise of immigration, etc. But I would *love* to see Michelle Trachtenberg give the little treacherous sexpot a go...that could blow my mind in a good way. On the flip side, Kristen Stewart doesn't need to go anywhere near the property.

Speaking of essentialist, Perez was so careful and deliberate about drawing his characters with different physiques that it's hard for me to put that aside when it's not actually crucial. Like, if I can get used to Jackman as Wolverine, surely Raven can have a rack, right? Okay, so why can't I see Kat Dennings in the role? Well, possibly seven hundred other reasons, including me never having seen her be dark and serious. but that is probably my shortcoming, not hers.

I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a Koriandr capable actress yet--maybe they can cast from professional volleyball or basketball. I can't even see a model, but it could happen.

However, his funniest funniest suggestion? Him as him.

He's got the right hair if he'd let it grow out.

I actually like Justin as an actor in the few things I've seen him in.

I totally dig him, but there was no way I thought there was a groovier casting suggestion than Zac Efron as Beast Boy. But, hello nursie! Jericho is everything gold.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Oh my lord, JT as Jericho would be GOLD.

Timberlake playing a mute character?!?

A mute musician though. And he's still got his sexy dancey moves.

Okay, good god--if you don't watch Teen Wolf it might not mean anything to you, but Dylan O'Brien would be an amazing Beast Boy, at least Perez style, which is the only variant I've read. Like, I'll go picket the Sony lot in my lunch hour over this.
