Interesting informed geeky poll of Best Creative Runs on comics.
It starts at #168 (the first entry to gain more than 1 vote, and a series I well remember) and is only up to #99 (another important series from my childhood).
They note that Daredevil has more great runs than any other chracter, which makes sense considering he had key stretches by Miller, Brubaker, Bendis, and going back to the sixties, Wally Wood and John Romita.
I would guess that the Miller Daredevil would be in the top 5 but I'm not sure if it would be ranked number one. Just don't know what the current consensus looks like. I'd guess the Claremont/Byrne run on X-Men to be pretty high also.
Their other lists are kind of interesting, though their #1 villains and heroes for DCU and Marvel are entirely what you'd expect. Still, it's an interesting exercise in current consensus and canon-making.
Geoff Johns various runs have had a bigger impact than I'd have expected. Sinestro at #3 DCU baddie? I'd never have guessed it.
The Teen Hero and Modern Hero (last 20 years, I think) lists were a bit more interesting.
Teppy will be pleased to hear that Blue Beetle got much love for teen hero, and Tim Drake came out as #1 teen hero (beating out Spider-Man and Dick Grayson) and #2 on the Modern Hero list.
Ple will be happy to know that Jack Knight got high ratings, and P-Cow will be pleased with Yorick's placement. Both in the top five of modern heroes.
Because HE'S AWESOME.
That is the consensus. Even folks that consider Dick Grayson to be cooler, and a more favored hero think Tim is the greatest of Robins.
Tim is the greatest of Robins.
He figured out who Batman was. I mean -- that alone does it for me.
The BatFam has so many intriguing interrelated dynamics in it.
Tim's relationship to Dick is more interesting than any relationship Superman has with anybody in his immediate vicinity.
#1 villains and heroes for DCU and Marvel are entirely what you'd expect.
Batman and Joker, Wolverine and Magneto?
P-Cow will be pleased with Yorick's placement. Both in the top five of modern heroes.
Hurrah! I'm also pleased about Daredevil's great runs. Which are great.
The BatFam has so many intriguing interrelated dynamics in it.
That's putting it mildly.
Tim's relationship to Dick is more interesting
I'm trying hard to not post "HOTT Robin-on-Robin action WOOOOO!!!"
And as we can see, I failed.
Pls to keep failing like that thx
Batman and Joker, Wolverine and Magneto?
Correct on DCU; wrong on both in Marvel.
Spider-Man and Dr. Doom.
