What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

If he needs to take some time off, I'm all for it...as along as he comes back with something awesome. He's got a pretty great track record in that pretty much everything he writes is awesome. Bendis, on the other hand, writes a million things, and some of it is awesome, and I haven't read the other stuff because I have heard it is...not.

Still, I'm hoping to meet him at Comic-Con. Powers was my gateway comic!

Vaughan is a writer who realized that just because something was based in a world where a man could talk to electronic equipment, or that all of the men of the world save one could die sporadically, or that your parents really could be super villains, doesn’t mean the events that transpire cannot be grounded in realism and connect with the reader on a true emotional level.

I read several comic blogs and I wouldn't say that stylish prose is high on the priority list for any of them, but good lord.

And for the record

This all begs the question

NO IT FUCKING DOESN'T.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dick Giordano has died, age 77.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Awww, that's too bad. I had a nice exchange with him when I worked at Fantagraphics. And his work with Neal Adams was fantastic. One of the great inkers and editors and a real mensch.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

So I finished both Y the Last Man and Nextwave lasts night. Talk about a major contrast between two series to be reading in parrallel. I loved them both, but for entirely different reasons.

Once upon a time I think I would have hated the ending to Y, but I'm much more down with the bittersweet melancholy these days. Losing Agent 355 that way still hurt though.

Nextwave was just flat-out hilarious, and while I'm sorry there won't be any more, the ending was a perfect place to leave it.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Nextwave was just flat-out hilarious, and while I'm sorry there won't be any more, the ending was a perfect place to leave it.

"My robot brain needs beer ..."

Dear God, I love me some "Nextwave."

Dear God, I love me some "Nextwave."

Seriously.

"ZOMG! The French are in Cananda!!!" "Zomg?"

"Things like this never happened when I was in The Avengers". [Monica Rambeau, leader of NextWave, lies all the time.]

"So follow the sexy robot." "Is it an invisible robot?"

And so on, and so forth...

Nextwave is completely hilarious, I agree. I need to get the Ultimate Collection that just came out.

That's the edition I read. I love that even the letters and the FAQ are hilarious.
