Ah. Well, in S:TAS, Darkseid refers to Kaliban as his son, but not REALLY. Actually, now that I think about it, it's never specifically stated that Kaliban is Highfather's son; it's just implied since Orion specifically states that he is Darkseid's son after we learn about the swap.
Haven't watch S:TAS, but one suspect that, there as muc as anywhere else, Darkseid is an unreliable narrator.

Kaliban does look a lot like Highfather, though. (At least as far facial hair goes) So I always assumed it was a direct swap.
