"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

That is tear inducing awesomeness right there.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yesterday Matilda was sad that she hadn't seen Emmett for a couple days (he was in the middle of a five day stretch with his mom). So she told JZ and she called EM and they arranged a drop-in. And they were very happy to see each other.

Mind, he's 13 and gets exasperated with her. He does not want to watch her shows on Nickelodeon. And they'll be cuddling and she'll bump her eye and be wildly accusatory ("Emmett hurt me!"). But really they enjoy each other tremendously. When he's here they spend a lot of time running up and down the hallway chasing each other and laughing madly. And he rides in the back seat when she's in the car and he'll lean over when he's tired, and she'll fall asleep playing with his hair.

And there are some times when she's upset that she doesn't turn to me or JZ for comfort, but wants Emmett instead. Which is pretty unusual for a three y.o.

On days when he's here, we almost always go over to Kezar Stadium and play a game. I throw a nerf football, and Emmett gets it, and Matilda chases him. And when she tags him he falls down all tackled. Then he rolls away as fast as he can and she runs and jumps on him. Then he throws the nerfball up in the air and she retrieves it and runs back to me with him in hot pursuit. And amazingly he always just barely misses her diving for her as she lands in my arms screeching and giggling madly.

Pretty much pure bliss for a three year old.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

So effing sweet. Teary now.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh man, David. I love Emmett even more right now if that were possible. Which it is!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

He handed me Matilda and she looked up at me with her giant brown eyes and I knew how important she was to me right then.

Shit, dude, this made me all kinds of allergic when *you* told us about Emmett's instant transformation into Super-Brother. But in his own words? DAMN.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You know when I knew Emmett was going to be okay with the big brother gig? When I saw him with Emeline at the SF2F, and he carried her off the ferry boat from Alcatraz.

The moment I knew from his own words that he loved her? When he told me she was better than a finger monkey.

Are you ready to be strong?

It made me cry, too. He's so awesome. Thank you!

P.S. He is your spitting image.

move out and draw fire

Emmett is love.

Joss questions...where does he see the future of the entertainment industry? Where would he like it to go?
