Goodbye and Good Riddance 2006: You're ON THE LIST!!!

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2006? Don't think we've forgotten about you.

Mostly lurking...

Merry Christmas Adam, everyone!

Ok. Don't think I'm a totally dork. Well, I mean, you already know I am, so I guess I'll just give you more proof. My brothers and I "came up" with "Christmas Adam" when we were little. We wanted more days to celebrate. So, if there was a Christmas Eve, clearly the day before had to be Christmas Adam.

I'm with my whole family this Christmas, and we're laughing a lot. This morning, dad woke up and came running to wish us all a Merry Christmas Adam. To which there was some rolling of the eyes, but some laughing as well. From the mouths of us as babes...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Anne! I got your fruitcake yesterday. Perfect timing as we desperately needed a little holiday cheer. So delicious and gingery and yum.

What is even happening?

'Christmas Adam' is dorky, but only in the pretty darned cute sort of way. I'm totally finding a way to say that to the kids, tomorrow.

Well, yesterday was Christmas Adam. Today's Christmas Eve, so tomorrow must be Christmas.

I'm a little disappointed that Cheerwine is soda. I was hoping for a new wine with a name I never would have considered, had the Buffistas not pointed me at it.

My lasagna's done (and baked). My brownies are in the oven. I start the fudge topping in a couple of minutes. My feet are tired. I'm not thinking about how much I'll have to do, tomorrow. t /O'Hara

I'm so glad you like it Ailleann! I made the scarf especially for you, so I hope the color works for you! Alas, I can no longer taunt you with more to come, as I think that you have now gotten all of the prezzies.

Also, I am both proud and embarrassed to say that of all the presents I have to mail, these are the only ones to make it out before Christmas. I did hand deliver some, and will give local gifts of course, but I hate my local post office with a passion, and avoid it as much as possible.

Merry Christmas Eve Eve! (Christmas Adam is wonderful, but we always had Christmas Eve Eve, so I think I'll stick with that.)

Heh. That's funny. There are thousands of wines, but only dozens of sodas. So finding a cool new soda feels like a much bigger deal out here.

It's lovely, thanks! My winter coat is grey, so it'll look fab.

I just tried to print my address book (to send Christmas cards, so this is sort of on topic), and the only listings that showed up were Erin and Kristin. This is really amazing to me, considering that most of the addresses in the book aren't even buffistas. I guess I'll be looking up the addresses online instead.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I saw Cheerwine in the store yesterday, and thought about picking some up. Then I remembered that I don't really drink soda these days.

I realized on the way home from dinner to night that it's been five years since I delurked in the 2001 version of this thread. I was musing today on how much has changed since then, and how much I owe to all y'all.

Five years ago, I was the walking wounded, unemployed, recovering from the blows of layoffs and miscarriage, and without a support network beyond my family. My support network now spans the freaking globe. I've been more, done more, seen more in the last five years than I could have possibly imagined when I first put my pixels down in this corner of cyberspace.

So, as we're now officially out of Christmas Adam (thanks, Bug!) and into Christmas Eve, I just want to say thanks, guys.

I couldn't have become the me I am today without you.

(2006, I'll deal with you later.)
