Just saw Inherit the Wind for the first time. Boy howdy, that's a hell of a movie.
Isn't it though? That cross-examination of Brady by Drummond was priceless. Some years back I read an account of the actual "Monkey Trial." As I recall, much of the cross examination in the play/movie came from the actual one Clarence Darrow did of William Jennings Bryan.
Damn, that was a good lunch.
Leftover xmas Turkey and stuffing and homemade gravy. Plus Spanikopta. Finish with blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream.
Favorite Food: Leftovers!
Northern NM got socked with snow. Think I heard that it broke a record 50 years old.
Wow, really, that much? That's awesome! My buddy over there predicted they'd get a bunch. He really knows, too; he's never once steered me wrong.
We got a good bit here, but there's generally more precipitation here than there.
Woo Hoo for cellphones! I held off longer than a lot of people, but parenting makes a cellphone a necessity. I still don't answer it a lot of the time. I get a lot of calls because my cell number is the phone number I had at home for the last 20 years. Look at the number, most of the time don't answer.
ION it looks like I will be buying a truck today. We had an extra vehicle that we didn't like and CarMax offered me a good price, so sold it. Now we are probably going to sell the beloved Jetta. We'll put it up but only let it go for a good price. It has lots of shiny sporty extras including that it was the only one made in its color.
DH has narrowed down the new vehicle choice to a Ford Lariat with the crew back seat to fit my oversized children. It is a crazy large truck with lots of power to pull the boat on bad ramps. The front seat can bench so I can fit 6 people which helps with transporting kids.
Most normal cars just don't fit my family anymore. So monster truck it is. This may happen today. If so there may be pictures.
Hec, i thought of you last night. We went out to Damon's Steak House in Glendale. It's a Tiki Place which has remained essentially unchanged from the 40s. Sassy older waitresses in tropical shirts, thatched roof over each booth, monkey decor, multicolored hanging lights, murals of sarong-clad Native Girls everywhere; the real deal. The food was mid-century plain meat and potatoes American steakhouse, and like going back in time--but it was delicious. You have to go next time you're in town, if you haven't already been.
Oooh! I love Damon's! I went there for a date eons ago.
I am sorry to report that TJ's Phad Thai is the nast. Really, really bad.
Does anyone have the link to that online music test we were all playing with, within the last month or so? I think it was linked here.
eta...
Found it: [link] It's actually a tone deafness test.
I have a problem.
I have too much salad.
It's really good, but...I seem to be unable to make meals in moderation. It's celery, black beans, canelli beand, corn and tuna with italian dressing. So freaking good, nice crunch factor, enough protein to make a good meal.
But I made an awful lot.
Anywho.
Lee! My cats are...well, one is paranoid and the other is sleeping it off. They thank you!
Also, msbelle, I got your lovely package (neighbor picked it up while I was gone and just remembered she had it!) and it's in use and I really really need to get some frames for all the lovely family pictures I've gotten this year.
I finally bought a memory card reader today. Looked at external hard-drives (I need to back up this baby and keep pics and eventually music off it since I only have 4.5 Gb left on this machine.) I really should shop online, but at least I now now what I could get grossly overpriced at a store. And it's pretty dang cheap. I mean, I know at work we ship off external drives with mind-boggling capacity all the time, and treat them as sort of disposable. But I've never priced them before.
I try really hard to only know the minimum about computers. It's kind of ridiculous.
